Nathan is a Partner at XReg Consulting, a group of former regulators with practical experience in formulating public policy and developing regulation for blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and cryptoassets.
Nathan is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and has a wealth of experience in financial services and new technologies. At XReg he provides advice to our clients on strategic and financial matters in addition to his in-house responsibility for crunching the numbers.
He graduated with a BA in Accounting and Financial Management before joining PwC Gibraltar. At PwC he managed a broad portfolio of clients, predominantly focusing on assurance engagements for financial services firms. During his time at PwC, Nathan was introduced to DLT and quickly became passionate about the technology and its potential benefits. He championed PwC's early efforts in the space and headed the industry working group which assisted the regulator in developing the financial resource requirement for what would be licensed DLT providers.
Nathan joined the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC)’s DLT team in 2018 where he was primarily responsible for the review of firms’ compliance with financial resource requirements and customer asset safeguarding. Nathan was central in the development of internal regulatory policies and procedures that considered technical and emerging aspects of the DLT industry.
During his time at the GFSC, Nathan built on his technical knowledge in DLT and achieved a Blockchain Expert Certification from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
Nathan provides evening lectures in accountancy at the University of Gibraltar, travels whenever he has the opportunity and is happy to discuss crypto anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
