Max McGiffen
Intern

Max is a Graduate in Law from the University of Oxford and holds a Masters in Public Law from University College London. In his Masters, he focused on Data Privacy Law and FinTech Regulation. He is currently undertaking an internship with XReg Consulting, after which he will take the Bar Course. His core interests include the intersections between law and blockchain technology.
Max frequently writes about cryptocurrency law for leading publications such as the Society of Computers and Law. He is the Chief Editor of the UK Public Law Blog, which is in the top 2 most popular public law blogs on Google. He has recently spent three months as a Paralegal at Hassans International, Gibraltar’s largest law firm, where he worked in the FinTech and Crypto teams in the Financial Services Department.
Max has extensive research experience. He has worked as a Researcher for Lex Atlas: Covid-19, a project which compares the impact of Covid laws and regulations in different countries. He also worked as a Research Assistant for the Oxford Law Faculty’s Cameroon Conflict Research Group. Max also took multiple mini-pupillages in the fields of commercial and technology law. He has also worked as a Parliamentary Researcher in the UK House of Commons, covering briefs as wide as foreign affairs and domestic crime.
Max has a particular interest in NFT regulation. Max is the Co-Founder of an NFT project, Ad Astra NFT, which provides legal, technological and artistic offerings to galleries seeking to enter the NFT space. He is currently writing a book on NFTs and the Law.
In his spare time, Max is an enthusiastic triathlete and rowing coxswain. Max is fluent in Spanish and French, and happy to accept instruction in these languages.
